in daly city where crews have plenty of work ahead of them. cate. >> reporter: michelle, you are right. the equipment behind me you can see is in place and ready to go and clean-up crews are expected to be back in daly city in a few hours to continue yesterday's work. that water main break caused quite a mess. you see that thick layer of mud covering the road in front of neighbors' homes. from above, our chopper 5 shows you how far it extended. 12 homes were evacuated after 45,000 gallons of water caused that land slide yesterday morning. neighbors are still worried about the integrity of the hillside. there was no damage to the homes. >> hopefully nothing will happen. especially with the rain coming this weekend. >> reporter: engineers tested the hill before allowing people back into their homes.

city officials say an 8" pipe connected to a water tank burst and they blame the pipe's old age. it was made in the 1930s. city officials say they will be working hard to fix the pipes. they say the pipes are still basically -- there could be more old pipes like the one that broke yesterday. there's a lot of work to be done. live in daly city, cate caugiran, cbs 5. so who is going to pay that cleaning bill? car owners whose auto insurance policies include comprehensive coverage are automatically protected no matter where the car was parked. they should file a claim immediately. but drivers who don't have comprehensive coverage should submit a claim to daly city within six months. forms are available at city hall. the red cross is trying to find shelter for an el sobrante family after fire damaged their home. the attic fire sent one firefighter to the hospital

with minor injuries. residents inside smelled smoke before the alarm went off. the fire caused at least $80,000 in damage. right now pg&e crews are working to fully restore power at san francisco's city hall. last night a small fire in the electrical room in the basement triggered the smoke alarms and formed the evacuation of the about. the fire department tells us there's just minor damage to the electrical room and they aren't sure how it started. city hall should be open for business as usual today. sierra lamar's accused killer faces new charges this morning. 21-year-old antolin garcia torres was been charged with trying to kidnap three other victims during three cam,ing in 2009. lamar disappeared in march of this year. torres was arrested in may for her kidnapping and murder even though lamar's body has not been found. we are getting a look at two men suspected of kidnapping a woman and driving her from atm to atm in the east bay.

walnut creek police say this video shows two men trying to withdraw money from a woman's account. she told police they grabbed her outside her office threw her in the back of her car. the suspects drove around to at least three other machines before dumping her and the car in the oakland hills. >> this doesn't happen here. the woman told the police the suspects were named david and aubrey. police say they escaped in a smaller older darker colored pickup truck possibly a toyota with a loud muffler. a pair of santa clara county jail nurses could end up behind bars themselves. they are accused of stealing inmates's prescription drugs. officials say when the two were arrested, they had some of the drugs in their possession. it's not clear if they were working together or alone. an audit at the port of oakland has turned up to $800,000 in questionable expenses. that's according to a source

planning to continue what they started yesterday. if you look at the video, we'll show you just how bad it got. take a look at all of this mud and this mess. that water main burst brought down inches of mud. i remember walking through it. you can see just again how bad it was. a clean-up though last night went well into the night in the daly city neighborhood. taking a look from above, from our cbs 5 chopper, neighbors were startled at about 4:30 in the morning when police told them to leave their homes. 45,000 gallons of water came downhill after that water main burst. city leaders say it was because of a cast iron pipe made in the 1930s. >> you can see the pipe actually sheared off. we know we have an aging system. we know we have pipes in the ground that are close or past useful life. that's not uncommon within any bay area community. >> reporter: now, no homes were damaged. 12 families were told to evacuate yesterday. some of their cars were actually swallowed up in the

arrest as far as we understand. so we want to show you these pictures one more time. it happened here at a business park in walnut creek. this is surveillance camera. the woman was tied up in the back of the car after about three hours kidnapped trying to get into her car at the business park they let her go in the oakland hills. here's the description police are trying to circulate right now. two white men in their early 20s, one 5'9", one is 5'11". the taller one may have been named david. they were calling him david in the car. the woman said he had broad shoulders and dark hair. the shorter one was possibly named aubrey and was possibly skinny. we have those pictures on our

plane in mississippi. the "piper p-a 32" had just well, three people are dead after a fiery crash of a single- engine plane in mississippi. the piper p.a. 32 just had taken off from jackson when it crashed into a home yesterday. one person was in that home and escaped with minor injuries. no one else was hurt.

bad news on wall street yesterday. the dow was down nearly 59 cushioned by a surge in home depot stock while the nasdaq was down 20. millions of shares of facebook could be looking for an investor to friend them on the stock market. a lockup period on stock issued to the company's first employees and investors ends today. now they can unload the stock that's lost nearly half of its value since facebook's ipo in may when its stock was offered at $38 a share. i think we are going to see a lot of defriending going on. >> are you a big texter? >> reporter: oh, yeah. a big texter and yeah, i guess they are saying it's going out of style. i can't believe that. one analyst says people are texting less. for the first time in history the number of monthly texts has dropped on average people send 675 texts a month compared to 700 earlier this year but it's not that they are communicating
